The working split is three full days in Amsterdam, one flexible museum or neighbourhood day, and three optional day trips. Reserve the visits that matter to you and check each departure. Keukenhof is seasonal; the 2027 opening is 18 March–9 May. Anne Frank House admission is sold through its own museum reservation system, with no authorised reseller.

The canal ring, Museumplein and De Wallen are separate areas, so allow walking or public transport between them. Check the actual excursion meeting point and how you will reach it; not every trip leaves from Centraal, and a central hotel does not guarantee a journey under twenty minutes.

A rough framework for the week:

Outside the garden season, use day five for Haarlem or Utrecht with a current train search. These are separate destinations with different fares and travel times. The NDSM ferry is free for everyone: it needs neither a GVB ticket nor a contactless tap.

Days 1 And 2: The Essential Amsterdam Core

Start with a public canal-ring walk and, if wanted, one cruise that fits your arrival day. The one-hour covered saloon option has live English commentary. Drinks and cheese depend on the selected option; a smaller boat is a format choice, not a guarantee of a better route or quieter sailing.

De Wallen can be visited independently with respect for workers and residents. Day 3: The Museumplein Day And The Van Gogh Booking

Book the Van Gogh Museum for the date and pace you want, then decide whether another museum fits. Standard adult admission is €25 and under-18s enter free, but every visitor needs a reservation. Rijksmuseum is €25 for standard adults and free through age 18, with daily 9am–5pm opening and specific start-time exceptions for eligible visitors.

One major collection can fill the morning; two require separate reservations, a realistic break and enough energy. Van Gogh holds the painter’s largest collection and Rijksmuseum includes The Night Watch. You can move the second museum to day seven. Stedelijk is an alternative modern collection and Moco another separate ticketed visit. Vondelpark is a free break nearby. Day 4: Windmills, Volendam And Marken

The 5.5-hour Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken coach tour is one way to combine the three places. Compare the selected inclusions with an independent route rather than assuming a fixed dollar price or universal best value.

Zaanse Schans has working windmills and separately operated museums and craft venues. Volendam and Marken have village and harbour settings on the Markermeer. Check the actual option and return; it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with low fitness.

Public village walks and paid interiors are different visits. An independent bus or train route can suit a longer stop in one place; do not assume every windmill entry is included in a tour. There is no guaranteed crowd-free departure, and weather or operations can change the route.

Day 5: Keukenhof In Spring, Haarlem In Every Other Season

Keukenhof’s 2027 season is 18 March–9 May. Use the exact year’s admission and transport release, rather than a past-season combo price. Haarlem is a useful alternative outside that window; tulip fields are seasonal too, so they are not an off-season substitute.

The garden is in Lisse, with journey time depending on your departure and transport. Confirm the 2027 opening hours, ticket release and bus option before arranging that day. Flowering varies with weather and crops. View commercial fields only from permitted public routes; do not enter planted fields or stand among growers’ flowers without permission.

Haarlem offers Grote Markt, the Frans Hals Museum and courtyard almshouses, each with its own visiting conditions. Utrecht is a separate train choice with canal wharfs. For Haarlem, the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket can cover listed regional routes, but it does not cover nationwide travel or admission. Compare the actual journeys with separate fares and redeem the voucher before travel.

Day 6: Giethoorn, Or Rotterdam And The Hague

Choose Giethoorn or the Rotterdam, Delft and The Hague loop for day six; each is a separate full-day direction. The verified Giethoorn excursion is about eight hours with a one-hour village cruise. The three-city alternative is about nine hours with Royal Delft Museum entry and a Hague walking tour; lunch is extra.

Giethoorn’s historic canal core has footbridges and waterside houses; the wider village is not entirely without roads. The DutchTrips excursion includes return coach travel, English guiding, a cruise, water and a stroopwafel snack. It meets at Prins Hendrikkade 59 and finishes at De Ruijterkade 151. Confirm the actual departure, return and mobility requirements before reserving.

The Tours & Tickets alternative visits Rotterdam, Delft and The Hague by coach with English/Spanish guiding. Current inclusions are Markthal, Royal Delft Museum and a Hague walk; they do not include lunch, a harbour cruise or Madurodam. Check in thirty minutes early at De Ruijterkade 34A inside Centraal. The Binnenhof portion is an exterior view, not parliamentary interior admission. For independent rail, check each city’s actual timetable and onward travel rather than a blanket under-one-hour promise.

Day 7: Neighbourhoods, Markets And A Final Cruise

Keep the final day flexible for neighbourhoods, a missed museum or departure. Albert Cuyp Market normally runs Monday–Saturday 9:30am–5pm and is closed on Sunday. A canal sailing can finish the week if you have not already chosen one; it is not a required second cruise.

De Pijp has Albert Cuyp Market and Sarphatipark; the Jordaan has cafés, galleries and resident courtyards with their own access rules. Westerkerk church is free but the tower is currently closed. In Noord, the NDSM ferry serves the wharf and STRAAT, while Buiksloterweg serves Lookout; allow a separate journey between them. Lookout entry with one drink excludes the swing and VR, which have extra charges and restrictions.

If you want your one cruise after dark, Blue Boat’s 90-minute evening option leaves Stadhouderskade 501. Audio is included, while drinks/snacks depend on your upgrade; arrange wheelchair space in advance if needed. Free alternatives include public canal walks and IJ ferries. The NEMO roof currently opens Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–17:30, so it is a daytime stop rather than an evening substitute.

Two €25 standard adult museums total €50; a seven-day GVB ticket adds €43, making €93 per adult before accommodation, meals, excursions and regional travel. A week with several coach trips may need fewer city-pass days, so compare actual journeys instead of automatically buying seven days.
